Time and time again, we’ll write about why smoking harms you. That’s a good reason because we want to remind you that there are alternatives out there that can help you quit. Things like patches, vaping, and therapy can help you overcome the addiction.
The following are reasons will make you consider why smoking is a problem!
It Causes Cancer
This fact has been around for many years; smoking causes cancer. But if you think it ends there, you’re wrong. Smoking leads to many diseases like cancer of the blood, bone marrow, cervix, bladder, kidneys, pancreas, stomach, esophagus, trachea, larynx, mouth and nose. You see, when you smoke, it affects everything that it encounters. This starts from lighting a cigarette to the exhalation. About 41,000 chemicals are entailed with it which causes disastrous effects to the body.
Weakens the Heart
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), a smoker has more chances of suffering from stroke or coronary artery disease compared to their non-smoker counterparts. Interestingly, smokers are 25 times more likely to suffer from lung disease as well. The chemicals in cigarettes affect the overall composition of blood which thickens and constricts the blood vessels. As a result, this leads to high blood pressure and other formation of conditions in the cardiovascular system.
Lowers Your Stamina and Your Lungs
You can be sure that cigarettes leave a tremendous amount of chemicals as a residue to your body. The residue clogs up the lungs and airways of the body leaving you with lowered lung function breathing problems. Also, research shows that smoking leads to the risk of tuberculosis, asthma, lung infections, pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.
Your Bones Become Brittle
A tremendous amount of research has show that smoking can cause loss of bone density by leeching calcium from the bones. With that in mind, smokers have an early onset of osteoporosis, joint pain, and early loss of teeth.
